Upgraded Kernel Brings Stronger Performance

The TOS 5.1 kernel has been updated from 4.19 to 5.15. Compared with the previous generation, TOS 5.1 optimizes EXT4/Btrfs/NTFs file system and SMB3 file server, uses ext4/f2fs/ubifs file system encryption in encryption API, enables Apple M1 SoC function under Linux, and adds the support for USB4 interface greatly improves the performance and security of the file system.

More Powerful 4K Hardware Decoding

Added the hardware decoding driver for Intel Jasper Lake GPU, greatly improving the 4K video hardware decoding capability of TerraMaster NAS. It can transcode video in real time into a file format that can be played smoothly on various devices, and also supports multiple streaming services such as DLNA and UPnP to meet various video playback needs.

USB Storage Pool Expansion

By connecting TerraMaster USB disk arrays, users can easily expand the storage space of the TNAS storage pool. It supports TRAID/RAID 0/RAID 1/RAID 5/RAID 6 array modes and provides 10Gb storage bandwidth. Compared to eSATA or mini SAS expansion enclosures, TerraMaster USB expansion enclosures are more economical and convenient.

Higher Performance Cache Acceleration

Hyper Cache is an unique SSD cache acceleration tool from TerraMaster. Hyper Cache provides up to 3 caching modes for users to meet different usage needs. It can also create disk arrays for SSDs to improve cache speed and security which is an ideal choice for video editing.

Smarter Message Notifications

TOS 5.1 optimizes system messages and divides message notifications into four levels: information, success, error, and warning. Messages at each level are marked with a more prominent symbol in a different color. Users can keep track of any abnormal situation in the system at any time to ensure the security of the system and data.

More Effective USB Storage Management

TOS 5.1 fully optimizes the installation of USB partitions. The system will record the path of the last mounted USB partition. When remounting next time, the original path will be allocated first, providing more storage space for USB usage and backup.

Optimized Docker Manager

TerraMaster released an updated version of Docker Manager and updated the Docker engine to version 20.10.17. The optimized interface is more in line with the user's aesthetics and usage habits. Container deployment is more flexible which optimized the utilization of TerraMaster NAS.

Stronger AI Computing Performance

TOS 5.1 used the more powerful Intel OpenVINO AI computing engine, combined with the new Terra Photos application, the efficiency of intelligent photo recognition has increased by 30%. The Terra Photos app is designed for home users and photography enthusiasts to manage photo storage, share and access photos from anywhere.
